Look for learning.
Compare teaching tasks before and after the course, with clear criteria and honest reporting of missing data.
A foundation in formation
To opportunity. To possibility.
To a future shaped by what people can become.
We’re building Rashad Foundation to connect meaningful education with practical opportunity for people and communities facing exclusion.
A teacher with the tools to help a class thrive. A learner able to return to education. A community with more ways to build its future.
These are the possibilities behind Rashad. Our focus is meaningful learning and practical skills where conflict, poverty, displacement, gender barriers or fragile education systems constrain opportunity.
We begin with a focused idea: support educators, work with local institutions, and understand what changes when learning is put into practice.
Expand access to meaningful education and practical skills. Strengthen educators and local institutions. Help people facing exclusion build pathways to opportunity.
RISE connects the people we hope to reach with the capabilities we aim to build—and the evidence we need to improve.
Explore each commitment.
Bring meaningful learning within reach of people whose opportunities are constrained.
In practiceFlexible participation, low-bandwidth materials and a clear understanding of who is missing—and why.
Help people see possibilities, choose meaningful goals and build the confidence to act.
In practicePersonal learning goals, encouragement from peers and opportunities to apply new skills.
Build the capacity of educators and local institutions so useful learning can continue.
In practiceMentored teaching, adaptable resources and local partners who help shape the program.
Look carefully at what changes, learn from what does not, and improve before expanding.
In practiceBaseline and follow-up evidence, transparent costs and honest accounts of the limits of our findings.
Yemen Teacher Development Initiative
Support the teacher.
Open more possibilities for learning.
A proposed first cohort for adult English language teachers, built around practical workshops, mentoring, peer learning and classroom application.
The proposed starting point
Planning targets, not completed impact. The eight-week model is our current design baseline. Recruitment has not opened.
Teachers would practise useful approaches, adapt resources to their own classrooms and receive feedback. Local educators would help shape the course, from recruitment and scheduling to contextual relevance.
Follow-up would explore classroom application six to eight weeks after the course. Launch depends on partner, funding, safeguarding and legal readiness.
Our first pilot should help us understand what is useful, accessible and sustainable. We plan to share what we learn, including what needs to change.
Compare teaching tasks before and after the course, with clear criteria and honest reporting of missing data.
Follow up on how teachers use learning in their own settings. Keep self-reported use separate from reviewed evidence.
Report participation, outcomes, costs and limitations. Use the findings to decide whether and how to repeat the model.
The foundation is in formation. No completed program results are claimed here.
Our ambition reaches beyond a single program or country.
Over time, Rashad aims to support women and girls facing barriers, youth building practical skills, interrupted learners, and the institutions that serve them.
That future will depend on local needs, credible partnerships and evidence. Our first responsibility is to do a focused piece of work well.
Good beginnings need people with experience, local knowledge and the willingness to do the work.
